As containment increases to the west, resources begin shifting to areas in need
Operational Update: Firefighters will continue focusing efforts on the remaining active portions of the Frijoles Fire while shifting resources away from areas that are now contained.
The Tahoe Hotshots will continue their spike operations along the southern edge of the fire, working directly along the fire’s edge and progressing northeast along the Borrego Trail. Crews working from the north will continue evaluating access to the east and look for opportunities for containment. If safe access is identified, firefighters may begin working those areas from the ground. Aircraft will be available to support these efforts as warmer and drier conditions increase the potential for fire activity.
A dedicated suppression repair group will begin working on the outermost contingency lines west of the fire. Crews will rehabilitate areas disturbed during suppression operations to reduce erosion and other impacts, while control lines closer to the fire will remain in place in case they are needed.
Crews and heavy equipment will continue improving contingency lines north of the fire, including road preparation, grading, handwork and chipping.
Air Quality: Today, good air quality is expected from Taos to Santa Fe, and Española to Nambe. The entire area should remain fairly clear of smoke. Even so, there will likely be hazy skies and some nearby areas could see more smoke during the evening if the fire becomes more active. Weather: Hot and dry conditions are expected today as high pressure remains over the region. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s, with relative humidity dropping to around 20-30%. There is still a slight chance of thunderstorms, any nearby storms could still produce gusty outflow winds
Evacuations: In Santa Fe County, all of Cundiyo, Cerro Piñon, and the Borrego Mesa area—specifically near Forest Roads 440 and 306—are in “Set” status. Nambe Pueblo Lake remains in “Ready” status. For more information, please visit https://www.santafecountynm.gov/fire

Closures: There is a road closure for NM 503 between County Road 98 and State Road 76. Visitors are encouraged to avoid the fire area and use caution when traveling near firefighting operations.
The Santa Fe National Forest issued a temporary forest closure to include the Pecos Wilderness area on the Espanola Ranger District for the Frijoles Fire.
