Latest Update: Warmer and drier conditions continue across the Frijoles Fire today. Fire activity remains minimal, primarily consisting of creeping and smoldering in remaining pockets of fuel within the fire perimeter.  

Ongoing & Planned Operations: Firefighters continue to patrol containment lines and work in communities north and northeast of the fire, as well as along the western perimeter. Crews are reassessing roads and using heavy equipment to improve contingency lines, providing additional options to protect communities, watersheds and other values at risk. 

On the eastern portion of the fire, firefighters continue to observe minimal creeping and smoldering activity in steep, rugged and difficult-to-access terrain. This portion of the fire remains uncontained primarily because there is no safe access for firefighters. The area is rugged, remote and difficult to reach on foot; however, air resources remain available to support operations when needed. 

Air Quality & Smoke: Smoke impacts will be limited to the immediate vicinity of the fire. Nambe and Mora may have periods of Moderate air quality from sources of smoke other than the Frijoles Fire. Weather: Warm and dry conditions are expected today, with temperatures reaching the mid- to upper 80s. Clouds will increase later in the day, and monsoon moisture will return later in the week, bringing increased chances for scattered thunderstorms. 

Evacuations & Closures: No evacuations are in place in Santa Fe or Rio Arriba counties for the Frijoles Fire. Residents should remain prepared and continue monitoring official updates, as the fire remains active and conditions may change. 
 
A temporary forest area closure remains in effect on the Santa Fe National Forest, including the Pecos Wilderness area in the Espanola Ranger District. Additionally, there is a Temporary Road Closure Order affecting FR 306, from the intersection of FR 440 and FR 306, west to the Forest Boundary and FR 306.
