New Fire Start – Appletree Fire

FIRST AND FINAL FIRE UPDATE: 8/8/16 9:15 pm

Jurisdiction: Lincoln National Forest, Sacramento Ranger District

Date/Time Detected: 8/8/16 2:58 pm

Location: Approximately 8 miles northwest of Timberon, NM, near Sacramento Lookout.

Lat/Long: 32 deg, 44 min, 37.71 sec X 105 deg, 45 min, 17.28 sec

Legal Description: T18S, R12E, Sec 18

Firefighting Resources: One FS engine, 3 personnel.

Values at Risk: None

Hazards: Snags, rugged terrain

Size: One-tenth of an acre

Containment: 0%

Cause: Lightning

Status: This fire was reported around mid-afternoon today. Forest Service firefighters responded to the fire, which they reported to be a single snag.  Firefighters proceeded with suppression tactics and full containment of the fire.
