Tijeras, NM, April 8, 2018 – The David Canyon Fire, located in the David Canyon Area of the Manzanita Mountains, remains contained at 15 acres. Firefighters will continue to mop up and patrol the fire to ensure the containment lines hold.
Resources on the incident have included one Type 2 Initial Attack crew, one Hot Shot crew, several engines and a Type 3 helicopter. Cooperators that have assisted the U.S. Forest Service include the New Mexico State Forestry, the Bernalillo County Fire and Sheriff’s Department, Southern Pueblos Agency, and New Mexico Department of Transportation.
There are currently minimal smoke impacts in the area and no evacuations at this time.
Visitors are asked to refrain from using Forest Service Road (FSR) #530 south of the FSR #530 and FSR #335 junction, until the fire has been declared out.
