Grants, NM – April 12, 2018: Fire managers from the Mount Taylor Ranger District have ordered additional resources to help manage the Diener Canyon Fire, located in the Zuni Mountains approximately fifteen miles west of Grants and Milan. This fire is approximately 1000 acres with no containment.
The Bluewater Fire is also approximately 1000 acres with no containment. Residents in Bluewater Acres and Bluewater Village are currently under a PRE-evacuation notice. These residents should be prepared to leave if an evacuation order is issued.
A Type 1 Incident Management Team has been ordered to manage these two fires. They will assume command sometime tomorrow.
The Bonita Fire (7.3 Acres) and the La Mosca Tank (10 Acres), which both also started earlier today, have been contained. The cause of all four of these fires is under investigation.
