Location: Homestead Acres, NE of Ruidoso, NM

Firefighting Resources: Local, County and Forest Service resources are responding to the fire.

Size Estimate: 43 Acres

Cause: Unknown

Status: The Homestead Fire was reported around 2:35 p.m. Monday just Northeast of Ruidoso, NM in the Homestead Acres subdivision, Lincoln County.  The fire originated on private property and is currently burning on US Forest Service land in the Lincoln National Forest. No structures are threatened. Crews have the Homestead Fire 100% contained and they are now in the mop-up stages. Smoke may be seen as heavy interior fuels continue to burn. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
