The Lumberton Fire is burning on private land off of Highway 64, east of Lumberton, NM in Rio Arriba County. The fire is threatening approximately four homes, two of which have been evacuated. The human-caused fire started just before noon today (05/10) and is moving toward Jicarilla Apache Tribal Lands. Gusting wind with speeds up to 29 miles per hour has been fueling the fire. Fuels include Ponderosa pine and brush. Multiple resources from State Forestry, Chama Volunteer Fire Department, Dulce Volunteer Fire Department, and the BIA are working this fire from the ground with support from multiple air tankers.
