The Lumberton Fire, burning on private land in Rio Arriba County is currently estimated at 350 acres. The fire is located off of Highway 64, east of Lumberton, NM. Four homes and multiple outbuildings are threatened and two residences remain evacuated. Fire behavior is minimal today (05/11) due to increased humidity/rain, cooler temperatures, and calmer winds. Crews expect to make progress today before forecasted hot, windy conditions return on Tuesday. A Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) assumed command of the fire at 6:00 a.m. this morning. The human-caused fire started just before noon Sunday (05/10).
