The Lumberton Fire burning on private land in Rio Arriba County is now 65% contained and estimated at 434 acres. Evacuations were lifted at noon today (05/13) and residents were allowed to return to their homes. Approximately six homes remain threatened. Drying winds fueled fire activity within the interior of the fire line today. Smoke may continue to be seen as interior pockets of fuel burn. Full containment is projected for Saturday, May 16th. Rigorous COVID-19 practices among firefighters have been successful so far and will continue. Resources are expected to be reduced in the coming days.
