Peterson Fire – San Miguel County – April 25, 2021

The Peterson Fire located northwest of Las Vegas in San Miguel County is 70% contained. The fire remains estimated at 30 acres. Structures are no longer threatened and there are no evacuations. Today firefighters will continue to work toward full containment and mop up hot spots. The cause remains under investigation.

Smoke may be seen from the interior of the fire. Individuals sensitive to wildfire smoke should take precautions and use the New Mexico Department of Health 5-3-1 Visibility Method to determine if it’s safe to be outside. Learn more at
