Colfax County Evacuation Update for Cooks Peak Fire 5/5/22 at 5pm

Effective at 5pm on the Cooks Peak Fire, Colfax County Sheriff’s Office, in consultation with Colfax County Emergency Management, is removing all communities OFF Evacuation status. The containment of the Cooks Peak Fire is at 97% with 59,359 acres burned. The Southwest Area Incident Management Team 5 will transfer command to a Type 3 team at 5pm tonight. We will continue to stay in contact with SWIMT 1 for updates on the Hermit’s Peak/ Calf Canyon fire. State Road 21 will be open to local traffic only and closed to thru traffic.
