The Antelope Flats fire is burning in Socorro County, west of Magdalena, north of Highway 60. Fire was reported 10 am Thursday, April 20 as two separate fires. The fires merged, fueled by grass, brush, pinyon/juniper and high winds. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Resources responded from multiple agencies including Forestry Division, BLM, Forest Service and volunteer fire departments. Resources camped out overnight, and currently remain on scene to hold and improve fire lines. Fire is 0% contained. There are no structures threatened, however smoke may be visible for some distance, and from I-25.
