The Antelope Flats fire is now 60% contained. The fire was reported 10 am Thursday, April 20 as two separate fires in Socorro County, west of Magdalena, north of Highway 60. The fires merged, fueled by grass, brush, pinyon/juniper and high winds. Resources responded from multiple agencies including Forestry Division, BLM, Forest Service and volunteer fire departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation. As of this update, fire crews are monitoring and proceeding with mop-up. This will be the final notification unless there are significant changes.
