The Yankee fire is smoldering in Socorro County, on the west side of Socorro Mountain, six miles west of Socorro. The fire was reported Tuesday, April 25 at 10:52 a.m., moving through grass and brush. Multiple resources responded, including air attack with helo and one tanker. This morning’s flight reported 338 acres burned. However, no further movement since yesterday evening. Resources are engaged, and helo is continuing to perform bucket work on priority areas. Windy conditions are expected for today. Containment is 50%.
