Firefighters respond
Santa Fe, NM, June 16, 2026 —A thunderstorm rolled through Northern New Mexico yesterday June 15, 2026, starting multiple small fires across the Santa Fe National Forest.
The Oso Fire located on the Espanola Ranger District along the Rio Del Oso approximately two miles northeast of Chicoma Mountain, is currently one tenth of an acre, single snag burning within an old burn scar. Firefighters are on scene working to contain the fire.
The Cebolla 2 Fire is located near the boundary of the Cuba and Jemez Ranger Districts approximately 1.5 miles west of the Valle San Antonio, between Calaveras and Twin Cabins Canyons adjacent to the west bank of the Rio Cebolla. The fire is currently 0.5 acres and is smoldering in heavy dead-and-down fuels, ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir. Firefighters are on scene and working to contain the fire.
