New Fire Start – “412 Fire”
Jurisdiction: Lincoln National Forest, Guadalupe Ranger District

Location: Approximately 3 miles southwest of Queen, NM near County Road 412
Lat/Long: 32 deg, 9 min, 19.12 sec X 104 deg, 45’ 6.84 min
Legal Description: T25S, R12E, Sec 1
Size: less than 1/10th of an acre
Cause: Human-caused
Status: Firefighters responded to a smoke report and discovered an escaped campfire. Civilians were at the scene attempting to swat the fire out. US Forest Service firefighters proceeded with fire suppression activities and kept the fire from spreading further. The fire size is less than one-tenth of an acre. The fire appeared to have escaped the campfire ring, however firefighters were able to keep it from spreading. An investigation is underway.
This will be the only update on this fire. No further updates will be posted unless there is a significant change to report.
