Gila National Forest – Ranch Fire Update June 25, 2018

Cause: Under Investigation

Location: 4 miles north of Saliz Pass (Gila NF)

Containment: 75%                                                                             

Fuels: Timber (litter, grass and understory)

Total Personnel: 102

General Information: Ranch Fire transitioned to a Type 4 organization. Several of the resources demobilizing will remain at the Luna Work Center for initial attack response.

Fire Operations: Minimal fire behavior was observed yesterday. Crews will continue holding and mop up the entire fire perimeter.

Fire resources will be assisting Navopache Power as they repair their damaged power line infrastructure. Pleasanton, Glenwood, and Brushy Mountain communication site have power provided by portable generator.

US Highway 180 is open. Please use caution when traveling through the stretch of US Highway 180 affected by the fire. There will still be fire personnel utilizing the highway, along with the threat of rolling rock and debris.

Fire Safety/Closures:  The Gila National Forest is in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Fire Danger is still rated as VERY HIGH.
