New Fire Start – Draw Fire

Location: Approximately 4 miles southwest of Queen, NM

Legal Description: T25S, R21E, Sec 12
Firefighting Resources: 1 – FS Incident Commander, 1 FS Engine, Queen VFD firefighting resources. Approximately 11 personnel. Some resources will be released this evening, as mop-up and containment efforts continue.
Size: less than one-tenth of an acre
Cause: This escaped campfire is under investigation
Status: US Forest Service firefighters and Queen VFD firefighting resources responded to a wildfire, which appeared to be the result of an escaped campfire. Having arrived within 30 minutes after the fire was reported, they implemented full suppression tactics and were able to contain the fire quickly, limiting its size to less than one-tenth of an acre. Firefighters remained on scene to continue with mop-up operations. The fire was described to be smoldering in grass and brush. There is a low spread potential for this fire.
This will be the FIRST AND FINAL update on the Draw Fire, unless there is a significant change to report.
