General Location: Off Highway 246 about 4 miles up Forest Service Road 130 near the Capitan Mountain Wilderness

Lat/Long: Lat: 33°, 37′ 28.6″ Long:-105°, 14′, 40″

Legal Description: T8S, R17E, SESE Sec 10

Firefighting Resources: 5 engines and personnel.  2 hotshot crews. 1 water tender. 1 dozer. 1 Type -3 helicopter. 2 single engine air tanker (SEATs). 1 Air Attack. The Pecos Type-3 team and additional resources have been ordered.

Fuel Type: Grass, Pinyon-Juniper, Mix Conifer

Values at Risk: Radio Towers, Cabins

Fire Update. 6/20/2019 at 7:30pm: The Pine Lodge Fire, detected at approximately 2:00 pm on June 19, 2019, is located on north side of the Smokey Bear Ranger District on the Lincoln National Forest. The fire started near FS Rd.130 and quickly burned south into the Capitan Mountain Wilderness. The fire is now estimated at 460 acres.

The fire is in the burn scar of the Peppin Fire, which burned 67,000 acres in 2004. Today multiple engines worked to protect and secure the remaining cabins in the Pine Lodge Recreation Residence Tract. Two cabins burned on June 19, 2019. The cabins are not used year round and were not occupied at the time. Crews also worked to protect a communication radio tower located east of the fire. Bull dozer fire lines are being constructed north of the fire to prevent fire spread.

Power is available to all areas except along a four mile stretch to the Pine Lodge Recreation Residence Tract where it was disconnected.

Evacuations: There are no evacuations.

Closures: Closures are in place for the Pine Lodge Recreational Residence Tract area. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

Weather: Predictions for upcoming days are for high temperatures above 90 degrees and lower relative humidity. Winds are forecasted to be 20 to 25 mph.
