Fire Update 4 pm: The lightning-caused Summit Fire was detected Thursday, June 26, 2019, around 10:20 am by fire personnel assigned to the Pine Lodge Fire. The fire is burning in grass and snag trees in the Capitan Mountain Wilderness area west of the Seven Cabins Creek Rd in Peppin Canyon. This new fire start is very close to the Pine Lodge Fire. The fire is located in the wilderness, which means access in and out of the area can be difficult. Given the erratic winds this time of year, location of the fire, proximity of the Pine Lodge Fire, extremely rugged terrain and to ensure firefighter safety, crews will be monitoring the fire.
