Firefighters will be burning slash piles on the Smokey Bear Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest today, October 1st in South Fork Campground near Bonito Lake. The piles consist of hazardous trees that were cut down after the 2012 Little Bear fire. The campground is tentatively set to open Memorial Day 2019.
